De son épée d’ombre, il abattit le guerrier ;
Du revers de la main, le monstre vint la frapper ;
This here is the story of love and of gall:
It takes place when the world’s age was still quite small.
At the river lived a maiden, young and fair,
Her skin white as snow, and like sheep’s wool her hair.
In the village there lived a brave cavalier
In his heart and hers, they held each other dear.
One day along the shoreline they took a walk.
To their world, a tragic event brought a shock.
From the depths of earth leaped out the enemy:
A terrible beast, darker than ebony.
Using his shadow blade, he struck down the knight;
Death promptly took his soul, just after the fight.
The girl saw him fall at the hands of his foe
And, unafraid, she rushed over to her beau.
The monster used his hand like a fly swatter:
Her feet left the ground; she fell in the water.
They never again found a trace of her here.
She was carried off by the waves, cold and clear.
It’s said on windy days, standing on the pier,
You can still hear her shedding more than one tear.
